My Top 5 Solo Travelling Tips

Image
Bratislava- Such a fun solo location! Travelling alone is something I have done a few times and is a type of travelling I really enjoy. Yes, I love a family holiday and yes, I love girl's trips, but travelling alone is probably the most fullfilling and character building. When travelling with other people, whether it is your friends or family, you have a  person getting you out of bed in the morning, a boss, a buddy, a protector, a guide, a spirit animal ... a whatever. When travelling alone, you have to be all those things to yourself. You are your mum telling yourself not to be up too late, you become your dad, telling yourself to give new things a go and you become your sibling, by laughing at yourself and putting yourself out there. I also love solo travel because you really get to know yourself, the good, the bad and the ugly. For me, I know that I am good at giving things ago, I am bad at putting myself out there, as being awkward as hell is in my nature and I unfortunately k

2019. New Year, New Vibes

Image
Welcome back! I am so excited to be back writing and sharing my gluten free tips and tricks. Sorry for the prolonged absence... I have no excuse really, just life!  Starting the year off, I was busy relaxing and blobbing around as it was school holidays and just getting over the craziness of the end of the year. As the end of  2018 rolled around I was exhausted after a trip to Hawaii, my sister's wedding and writing reports once again... so found myself constantly sick. I therefore was not in the right head space to be blogging. So apologies! I was so disappointed as I came back from a girls trip to Hawaii that was incredible and a trip worth a blog post!  I will definitely blog about that soon... just wait until you hear about my aeroplane toilet situation! So 2019 ... (side note: but is anyone else feeling a little bit freaked out that it is 2019? I know it is the end of March, but I am still in shock!). So, 2019, I am taking on a lot more at work and am trying to get m

Byron Bay

Image
Byron Bay is located on the coast of New South Wales in Australia. A mecca, if you will, for the holistic and bohemian lifestyle, Byron Bay is considered the place to go for many, especially the trendy and backpackers. Now, as not a particularly trendy or alternative person, Byron Bay is more about enjoying the small town lifestyle and the amazing number of gluten free options here. As a town with a huge respect for holistic practices and wellbeing being gluten free in Byron is pretty easy. Recommendations for in and around Byron Bay: Now all that being said Byron's aesthetic is beautiful, with gorgeous and luscious greenery and rain forests located close to the beach this could easily be mistaken for paradise. SUNRISE..... IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT! I am not a morning person, being part vampire I worship the nights, however being a teacher I have completely had to change my life and schedule around. This means that although begrudgingly I want to get up and greet

OKTOBERFEST

HALLO, A beer festival? Not a natural place for a coeliac. This was definitely my fear and preconception. Going for my sister's 30th Birthday, I was nervous that I was going to be the party pooper of the trip. Having been about ten years prior and not being diagnosed, I had fond memories of beer halls and the fun and excitement of the incredible Munich Oktoberfest. However, being coeliac, and beer and pretzels being 'staple' of the Bavarian festival diet, I remembered I wasn't very excited. Sucking up my fear and knowing that this was all about my sister's entry into her thirties, I prepared myself with rations and the understanding that I may have to be the ‘Sober Sally’ of this trip! Now I am not saying being Sober Sally is a bad thing but if you know anything about me it is that I love a wine. Even now as I write this I have a red sitting on the coffee table consoling the fact that I am at home and not overseas travelling. I am not saying that Oktoberfes

The Southern States (USA) Part Two

Travelling on tour can definitely be difficult at times. Unfortunately it is one of those things where you have to be carefree, go with the flow and understand that you are in a travel bubble that will end at some point SO GET OVER THE BULLSHIT and enjoy the here and now. By the second week of my trip I was definitely seeing people for who they really were and in some ways that is awesome. You make friends with people that on day one you maybe thought weren't going to be for you and you also start to have certain people's habits grind on you. It is inevitable, not all people are going to be besties, but on the other hand you form bonds that far exceed your expectations and true friendships that will last a life time! So now on to fun..... Itinerary of the Southern Adventure (Day 7 to 13) Leaving Amarillo, we visited the Cadillac Graveyard which was super awesome. However, when we were there, it was so cold and the breeze was so intense that it was hard to enjoy i
